Books Lifestyle non-toxic beauty

The book that changed everything!

The Green Beauty Guide by Julie Gabriel, published in 2008, was one of the first books to address “The effects of synthetic products have on you.” Back then, I did not question what was in my beauty products. Reading the book helped me to decide which product to use. Did you know that beyond color additives, the Food and Drug Administration “is not empowered to regulate the beauty industry?” Be your own advocate, make sure the products you use won’t harm you in the long run!

Tip #1 – Start small, you do not have to change your entire makeup collection in a day. Make a gradual transition, one that YOU are comfortable with.

Tip #2 – Don’t beat yourself up! Although most of my beauty collection is green, some products are not and I can live that. Unless you’ve decided to go vegan, in which case you may have to toss loads of products, I wouldn’t go crazy.

Tip #3 – Let your budget guide you! Green products are great, but they can be a touch pricey. So, take your time and go for quality over quantity.

Here some of my F-A-V-O-R-I-T-E products and why I love them:

Vapour Beauty Aura Multi Stick – I own this product in SO many different colors. If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen me wear them in rotation. $36 dollars a stick may seem a little steep. However, this little stick will last you a long while. On your cheeks, eyelid or lips the Aura Multi Stick will instantly spruce up your look and give you life!

Alima pure is just a wonderful beauty company with an amazing set of values. Their exquisite loose mineral eyeshadow, at $14 a pop, contains minimal ingredients and is wonderful for sensitive skin.

I’ve been using Plain Jane‘s Creme Minerals Natural and Organic foundation for a few months now ($42). This light foundation lays on smoothly and leaves a flawless finish.

Over the years, I’ve tried a host of Hynt Beauty products and their collection is superb! I love, LOVE, LOOooove the Velluto Pure Foundation (from $5 to $69)! It goes on smooth and can be layered for extra coverage.
